Competition - Seasonal Wildlife

We will have 4 competitions for pieces to be used by The Saskatoon Wildlife Federation for their annual calendar. This will be a two part competition:

- First the pieces for each season will be judged by SWAA - winner will take 50% of competition fees. 

- Then all the pieces will be sent to the Saskatoon Wildlife Federation where their representatives will pick their favorites to be used for their calendar. 


SUBMISSION DEADLINES at midnight:

Fall images: January 31

Winter images: March 31

Spring images: June 30

Summer images: August 31

GUIDELINES

SWAA Seasonal art competitions 


  • $10 entry fee (up to 3 submissions)
  • 50/50 entry fee split between SWAA and the winner of the competition.
  • Submission can be a new or older piece of 2-dimensional art including photos.
  • Winner gives permission for SWAA and SWF to use the image in a calendar printed within the  year of the competition. As well as permission to use the image in SWAA’s online media posts (post about the winner of the competition and also for website use).
  • The winner’s name and the piece’s name will be announced / displayed along with the print on the calendar page.
  • The images will be judged by 3 judges from SWAA and one judge from SWF.
  • Deadline for submissions is 12am CST (midnight) on each seasonal deadline (Jan 31, Mar 31, June 30, Aug 31)
  • This competition is open to all current members of SWAA.


Submissions Guidelines

Send an email with the image attached to swaa1986@gmail.com with the header

“autumn seasonal competition 2025”, or winter, etc. 

Please include the following other info, (Phone#, website, Piece’s title, media)

  1. A current 2025 membership is required to submit to this competition.
  2. JPG files only. 
  3. All entries must include wildlife of some sort.
  4. 300 DPI resolution (Please try to keep the file size under 10 MB to ensure proper loading). 
  5. Do not send images of your artwork which has been framed or contains watermarks. Must be cropped so only the artwork is in the image.
  6. SWAA may crop your images for formatting purposes for use in their Facebook / Instagram posts and for other areas of the website if your image is chosen as the winner.
  7. The sizing and labeling of your images are very important. Label your image files in the following manner: first and last name, the medium used, size, piece title. Here is an Example: JohnBrown_Photography_8x10_bigBird.
  8. The file name may not include characters such as #, $, &, periods or other similar characters as part of the file, and it is important to follow these instructions about the file name to allow the right storage into the image database.
  9. Winner will be required to submit a high-resolution file for reproduction.
  10. SWAA reserves the right to choose an alternative winner if they deem the quality of the submission’s resolution was insufficient to make a quality reproduction.
  11. Saskatoon Wildlife Federation makes the final call whether a piece will be entered into the final calendar print. All winners of the seasonal competitions may not actually be included in the yearly calendar at the discretion of the Saskatoon Wildlife federation.
